What Ánimo is — and is not

A space for reflection, with clear human boundaries.

Ánimo exists to support clearer thought, more deliberate choice and a more coherent relationship between insight and practice. Its value depends partly on knowing what kind of space it is.

Reflection, not treatment

Ánimo is not psychotherapy, counselling, psychiatric care, medical treatment or a crisis service. It does not diagnose conditions, assess clinical risk or provide treatment plans.

Private reflective work with an Ánimo facilitator is a structured human conversation. It is not a regulated healthcare service and should not be presented or relied upon as one.

Guidance, not professional advice

Ánimo may help you examine a decision, assumption or pattern. It does not provide medical, legal, financial or other regulated professional advice. Where a question has serious practical consequences, seek advice from a suitably qualified professional who can understand the full circumstances.

Support, not authority

Ánimo may offer questions, interpretations and possible perspectives. These are invitations to think, not instructions to obey. You remain responsible for your choices, actions and use of the material.

Technology has limits

AI-generated responses can be incomplete, mistaken or poorly matched to a situation. Ánimo should not be treated as an infallible source of fact or judgement. Verify important factual claims and pause when a response does not feel appropriate.

Privacy has limits

Conversations opened through ChatGPT are governed by OpenAI’s platform, terms and privacy controls. Do not use Ánimo to store secrets, passwords, medical records or information about another person that you have no right to share.

Private human sessions are handled with care and discretion, but they do not carry the legal status of clinical confidentiality or legal professional privilege. Any specific confidentiality arrangements for guided work should be agreed before that work begins.

When another form of support is needed

If you are experiencing severe psychological distress, believe you may harm yourself or someone else, or face an immediate danger, do not rely on Ánimo. Contact the emergency services in your location or an appropriately qualified crisis or healthcare professional.

If an issue calls for clinical care, Ánimo may help you recognise that boundary, but it cannot cross it.

For adults

Ánimo’s guided pathways are intended for adults. They are not designed as services for children.

The governing principle

Ánimo should increase your capacity for discernment, not weaken it. The aim is not dependence on a system or facilitator. It is a clearer ability to recognise what is yours to understand, choose and govern.
